Sold your house or moving out of your apartment? One of the conditions before moving out and handing the keys to the landlord or the new homeowner is to clean the property for the next owner or tenant to enjoy their new space. The tenant is liable for maintaining the property and keeping it in clean condition. So leave your house or apartment squeaky clean with these move-out cleaning hacks!
CEILING – When cleaning, work from the top to the bottom meaning, from the ceiling to the floors. As you clean, this will allow the dust, cobwebs, and dirt to fall to the floor.
WINDOW BLINDS – Dust the blinds or wipe them with mild soap and water. Run your hands with the damp sponge or cloth across each slat to remove dust.
WASH WINDOWS – Use a good window or glass cleaner to wash the windows. Spray the area and wipe quickly using a lint-free cloth to avoid streaks. Don’t forget to include the sliding tracks, handles, and locks.
CLEAN THE CARPET – You can’t avoid staining the carpet if you have children or pets. You can remove stains using a carpet cleaner. Let it sit for a few minutes then blot the stain away. Be sure to use the right product for each carpet type.
CLEAN WALLS AND TRIMS – Wipe and wash the walls with the right cleaner specific to the type of paint finish on the property. Don’t forget the baseboard or trims!
PATCH WALLS – The nail holes left by those awesome wall decors need to be covered up. Use putty and a putty knife to apply the product. Then, paint with the same color as the wall to restore the wall to its original condition.
WIPE KITCHEN CABINETS AND PANTRIES – Take out everything and toss out expired foods. Remove any shelf liners. Using a damp cloth, wipe the cabinets and pantries thoroughly to remove any left behind crumbs.
CLEAN THE OVEN – Form a paste by mixing water and baking soda then give the inside of the oven a good scrubbing but avoid the coil. Wash the racks with a soap dish and wipe the remaining residue.
CLEAN THE DISHWASHER – Eliminate the odor and soap scum with a sanitizing wipe then brush the accessories and tub.
WIPE DOWN FRIDGE – Get rid of expired food and contents from the fridge. Then, clean the interior and exterior of the refrigerator with baking soda and water. You can use a spray bottle instead of dipping the sponge in the bucket when cleaning.
DISINFECT THE SINK AND DRAIN – Unclog the drain using a commercial drain cleaner or mix baking soda and white distilled vinegar. Let the solution sit for a few minutes then rinse it out with hot water.
SANITIZE COUNTERTOPS – Use a sanitizing wipe or an all-purpose cleaner to clean the countertops.
MIRRORS – Polish the mirrors using an ammonia-based glass cleaner with a lint-free cloth, wiping in a circular motion from top to bottom.
DISINFECT THE TOILET – Get rid of toilet rings by scrubbing with an all-purpose bowl cleaner. Wipe down the seats and the tank with a bleach-based cleaner. Don’t forget to open all windows or the bathroom fan to ensure adequate ventilation.
SHOWER AND BATH – Use a commercial bathroom cleaner or vinegar and baking soda to scrub off the grimy tub and shower, build-up, and mold.
WIPE THE VENT – Remove the fan cover and dust off the exhaust fan. Thoroughly dust and clean the interior.
SANITIZE THE VANITY – Use an all-purpose cleaner to clean the surface of your bathroom vanity, cabinets, and drawers.
MOP AND VACUUM FLOOR – Once done cleaning the house or apartment, it’s time to mop and vacuum the floors. Remove loose items and clean up bits and pieces using a vacuum. After that, mop the floor using a floor cleaner or with soapy water.
